Ever wondered the different diamond shapes available? Here is our short and easy guide showing the diamond shapes which are most readily available.
The round brilliant cut diamond is a great classic and has been the most desirable shape for decades. With a total 57 facets it is the only shape which can be graded by a cut grade. These grade range from excellent through to poor. At labgrown.diamonds we only select round diamonds with a cut of excellent.
An oval diamond is a round diamond with an extended shape that offers a distinct yet subtle elegance. Oval diamonds are usually cut in the brilliant facet style, which has 57 or 58 facets, just like a round brilliant, giving it comparable optical properties. Although an oval diamond can have many different facet configurations, the most popular combination is eight primary facets on the pavilion and eight bezel facets on the crown.
An emerald cut engagement ring is an elegant and sophisticated option. More couples choose emerald cut engagement rings because of their distinctive appearance, easily recognised by its parallel rows of facets and rectangular shape with bevelled corners.
The cushion cut diamond of today is similar to an older brilliant cut known as the "old mine cut." Up until the late 19th century, the most popular cut was the old mine cut, which dates back to the 1700s.
A pear shaped diamond is an elegant and flattering choice for someone who wants to elongate the finger. Symmetry is key when it comes to the pear shape, here at Labgrown.Diamonds we only select diamonds with excellent symmetry.
Also known as a cut-cornered rectangular modified brilliant, the radiant cut mixes step cut facets on the crown and brilliant cut facets on the pavilion combine to form the radiant cut. It is an alternative to the emerald cut due to its angular shape but with brilliant cut facets. Our current designs are based on rectangular cut radiant lab grown diamonds
The main advantage to princess cut diamonds is they can look larger thank other shapes due to the large surface area of the diamond table. Labgrown.Diamonds only choose princess cut diamonds of excellent symmetry and polish.
A marquise diamond typically has 58 facets. Due to the long and slim shape of the stone it can often give the illusion of a larger stone. The marquise shape diamond can also elongate the finger.
